Baby Boy Nursery – Woodland Animals Theme

When we first found out we were expecting a little boy, we were living in a subdivision in the city.  I searched and pinned all of the little boy nurseries on Pinterest before deciding on a woodland animals theme.  Jump forward a year, and we now live in a house the woods!  I think its a pretty neat coincidence that the theme of his room matches our house.  We actually have little racoons (ok, not really little) and deer and owls that like to stop by for a visit every now and then. 🙂

This was by far the most fun room in our house to decorate and the room that makes me the happiest to be in.

We had bought his dresser at a yard sale and refinished it before we even knew we were expecting.  It just happened to work out that it matched the color scheme in his room.  We actually spray painted it (can’t really remember why we did that instead of rolling/brushing it on).  It turned out really well! I lined the inside of the drawers with the Duck Brand of shelf liner.  The drawer handles came from D. Lawless Hardware (great place to find handles and pulls for cheap!).

The stuffed animals came from Dick’s Sporting Goods (I know, who knew they sell stuffed animals??) and IKEA.  The signs above his dresser are a variety of homemade and Hobby Lobby – they have the best woodland theme accents! I still have up the Welcome Home, Little One chalkboard art that I had made when we brought him home.  Cue the tears.

I love that the ball garland adds a little pop of color.  The great thing about Sheep Farm Felt (also on Etsy and Amazon) is that she will create a custom garland for whatever colors you need! You should also check out WoodenFamilyTree.com for their really cute custom memory blocks (on the dresser).

We got these adorable woodland animal prints for FREE from happilyeverafter.com. She has the cutest free printables! There were 8 prints that we framed and hung around the room.

The little reading nook is one of my favorite and most used spots.  When he was just a newborn, I would rock him in this chair in the middle of the night and we still use it to read stories before bedtime.  For all the soon-to-be moms, I suggest getting a chair that is supportive with good armrests.  I was originally looking at a big, comfy chair but looking back I realize that it wouldn’t have been very supportive during those long nights trying to stay awake.  We got this one from Babies R Us.  Here is a similar chair from Wayfair.

His room is actually really large – lots of room for playing and making messes. 🙂 I believe that the former owners once used this as a second family room space.  I have a feeling future siblings might fight over who gets the biggest bedroom!

One of the best things I requested for my baby shower was for guests to bring a book instead of a card.  We now have so many different books to choose from, and I love pulling out a new book we haven’t read and finding out who it was from.  These cubbies have been great for holding books, stuffed animals, toys, and blankets.

My husband once joked that this room is the best room in the house, and he’s probably right!
